Response to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic


Carissimi,

Today, in the context of the worldwide crisis caused by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, we cannot but face a sad reality: people all over the world cannot travel as they used to – for good reason. 

In light of the latest international travel and safety measures, and moreover following the measures taken by the Italian Government, we have decided to postpone our reopening until the beginning of May (date will be confirmed in the next weeks).   This closure will comply with the measures taken by local authorities to ensure the safety of all through the policy of social distancing to limit the spread of the virus.

At Palazzo Margherita, we are taking these extraordinary measures with deep regret, but obviously for the good of all and in the hope of being able to reopen our beautiful hospitality “home” and welcome our guests as soon as possible! And as always, we will do our utmost to provide the most authentic and memorable experience we can, to highlight our visitors’ memories.

Several functions will always remain active within the Property; the staff is following the measures taken by the Italian authorities, so we can ensure a quick and efficient reopening of our Palazzo when the time comes.

What is included in my room rate?
The rate includes breakfast, all taxes including VAT, in-room bar, Wi-Fi, in-house bikes, cooking lesson, and daily shuttle service to our partner beach club (10:30am – 4:00pm).
How long does it take to get to the hotel from the airport?
Brindisi Airport is 128 km away; it is about a 90 minute drive. Bari Airport is 135 km away; it is about a 90 minute drive.
How do I get from the airport or railway station to the hotel?
We can arrange transfers to and from your arrival airport or railway station for an additional fee.
Is car rental service available?
You can have a rental car delivered directly to Palazzo Margherita; we will be glad to assist you.
Is there parking at Palazzo Margherita?
We have an off-site garage. You may pull into our driveway and our valet service will park your car for you.
How far is the nearest railway station from the hotel?
The Metaponto station is 11km away from the hotel, about a 10 minute drive. The railway station links to major Southern Italian cities.
Is there a taxi service in Bernalda?
There are no taxis in Bernalda, however we can organize a private shuttle service for guests upon request.
When and where is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served from 7:30 am until 11:00 am. Our breakfast buffet is set either in the Eat-in Kitchen or in the Family Bar. You are welcome to order other breakfast items at the upstairs Family Bar, our Cinecittà Bar, in your room, by the pool, in our garden, or in the courtyard.
What time does the kitchen close?
The kitchen staff is on duty until 11:00 pm, but the kitchen is always open in case you’d like a snack.
Do all the suites have king-size beds?
Most rooms have king-size beds with the exception of Garden Suite One, Garden Room Two, and Garden Room Three, which have queen-size beds.
Do you have twin rooms? Can I get an extra bed (roll away) in my room?
We don’t have twin rooms, but for a maximum of 2 people per room, we can add a rollaway bed free of charge. An extra rollaway bed for more than 2 people can be added to almost any guest room for an additional charge.
Do you have two adjacent rooms with a connecting door for families?
We do not have adjacent rooms with connecting doors. We have rooms with connecting terraces, or you may book up to three close suites which are separated from the main building.
Is there babysitting service available?
We can organize a nanny during your stay. Please inquire for availability and rates.
Do you have high chairs available at the hotel and restaurant?
Yes, we have high chairs available.
Do you accept pets?
We don’t allow pets at Palazzo Margherita.
Do you have a laundry service?
Yes, we have laundry service available.
What time do the local shops open?
Shops are generally open from 9:00am to 1:00pm, then again from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.
Do you have bicycles at the Palazzo?
Yes, we do. You are welcome to use them at any time, free of charge.
How far is the nearest beach?
We have access to a private beach club which is approximately a 15 minute drive from Bernalda.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Do you have wheelchair accessible rooms?
Yes, our Garden Suite One and Garden Room Two are wheelchair accessible rooms.
I have mobility problems; are there many stairs in the building?
We do have rooms facing the Garden without stairs. There are no stairs to the Eat-in Kitchen or Cinecittà Bar, but you will find a flight of stairs leading to the Salon and Family bar.
Do you have smoking rooms?
There is no smoking at Palazzo Margherita, however you can smoke at an outdoor table at our Cinecittà Bar.
